2007’s HospiceCenter Wine By the River is dedicated to and in memory of Katie Marie Morris, a 13 year old girl who lost her battle to cancer in April 2007. “Go Big or Go Home” was her motto and Katie lived her life to the fullest. HospiceCenter was blessed to be able to provide hospice care and support service to the Morris family at the end of this courageous young lady’s life.
It’s a wonderful way to spend an afternoon, strolling through the tents in search of that next delicious glass of nectar, or tasting another bite of scrumptious cheese or chocolate.
But let your senses feast on another group of artists at the festival. Our cadre of painters of fine art, craftsmen, wine related vendors and entertainers will be located throughout the festival tents and stages for your enjoyment.

Experience fresh, hot espresso and cool, delicious gelato.
Sample Italian dishes and learn how to prepare them at our cooking demonstrations: chefs from local restaurants and visiting guest chefs, Robert Reynolds and Mauro Golmarvi, from Portland and Seattle respectively,will be cooking up their favorite dishes all weekend long.
The History of the Italian Festival
The Festival dates back to 1935 when Tom Vella, who had newly emigrated from Italy and founded Rogue Creamery, invited the community to a picnic to celebrate Italy and the bounty of the region. This year, Ig Vella, Tom Vella’s son, will be attending the Italian Festival and sharing some of his own award-winning cheese from the Vella Cheese Co. in Sonoma, CA.
